Here's some cool networking for you!! When I worked as a hairstylist in Seattle, I was forced to send free haircut cards to the community to build my clientele. I thought about what kind of clients I wanted and sent cards to personal coaches. A lovely lady named Stacy Duhon was not only the only coach that used her voucher, but in return she offered me an hour of her services!! How cool is THAT?! So in 2010 we talked for an hour about how unhappy I was, moving to Maui vs San Diego, and how to start making changes. I wasn't in the position at the time to hire Stacy, but just that ONE HOUR of talking got the wheels turning in my head.
Fast forward five years to an even BETTER beach location and life than I had even dreamed about!! I set up another call with Stacy to see if this was the right time for both of us to work together. On my way to the gym, before our meeting, I was telling myself every reason why I COULDN'T hire her. It's too expensive. I can do it on my own. It's not in my budget. It's too frivolous to hire a coach. I'll just stay on track this time. (Ha!! Because that ALWAYS works for me!)
When I got to the gym I checked my email. I'm a sucker for anything inspirational and so I get tons of emails a day from various sources. Notes From The Universe, DailyWorth, Nathan Crane, and one favorite, Emilie from Indie Shopography. (Check them all out, they're awesome!) Anyways, the email from Emilie said, "This is me giving you permission to invest in things that seem frivolous...but will actually improve your day-to-day life. Which will positively effect your ongoing mood and productivity. It's a win/win!"
Yesterday I hired Stacy as my coach to kickstart whatever it is I'm doing (we're going to figure that part out together), and to help me stay motivated and on track because I tend to get distracted by shiny things. I'm so super excited and can't wait to see what we can accomplish together!!
