Your fear is keeping you stuck.

Your fear is keeping you unhappy.

Your fear is making you complacent.

Your fear is making you settle.

Your fear is telling you, “This is good enough” when in reality you feel like you’re dying inside.

I know this place oh-so-well. I’ve found myself there over and over again. Looking around, wondering how I got myself into this mess…

  • This job

  • This relationship

  • This marriage

  • This situation

  • The life

Wondering how things were ever going to change. How to get myself out of this hole I’d dug myself into.

What I can tell you is that I had to get so sick of my own shit, so sick of my sob story, so sick of feeling worthless…

  • Before I was ready to do something about it.

  • Before I realized I had a choice.

  • Before I acknowledged that the only person who was going to save me was me

I had to go through the whole process of feeling stuck, feeling like a victim, feeling sorry for myself so I could gain the strength to shit or get off the pot.

Nobody could have done it for me. I was the only one who could do it for myself.

So I:

  • Went to therapy

  • Left the marriage, the toxic relationships

  • Quit the jobs (or was fired, thanks Universe!!)

  • Kicked the flatmates out

  • Moved out of toxic living situations

  • Hired coaches

  • Started taking anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication

  • Quit drinking and using drugs

  • Removed and blocked toxic people from my life, including family

  • Prioritized myself above everyone else

  • Went to Co-Dependents Anonymous

  • Read, learned, journaled, grew

  • Went through coach training and leadership development programs

  • Took responsibility for myself and my happiness

I said, “Thank you” to my fear for trying to keep me safe and then told it to piss off because I have things to do and lives to change.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned from coaching is that we are always at choice. Even if it feels like we’re backed into a corner, we’re always at choice.

You can choose to let fear run the show or you can choose something different.

Going through coach training didn’t just teach me how to coach and lead others, it taught me how to coach and lead myself first.
